New charges include two counts of sexual battery three counts of aggravated sexual battery, aggravated sodomy, three counts of cruelty to children in the first degree, three counts of child molestation and one count of aggravated child molestation, according to Polk County Police Department Det. Joe Weldon.
Weldon said all charges stem from incidents with one child under 10 years old at a location on Pea Ridge near Rockmart.
Lentz was out on bond for similar charges in a separate incident. Lentz is accused of molesting a child under 16 years old in that case. He was arrested earlier this year by Rockmart police after a school counselor reported a suspected incident to police.
His trial was initially anticipated to be in August, but he is still waiting.
Weldon said the police began their investigation into this new case after the victim’s relatives notified them of statements the child made to them about Lentz.
He said it is frustrating.
“I spent two hours in the D.A.’s office yesterday before I took the warrants out to make sure this doesn’t happen again,” Weldon said.
Weldon said it is likely Lentz will be held in jail this time because he violated his bond with another report of a similar incident.
