Polk's responders to be recognized during National EMS week

EMS providers will be honored from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 18 at Redmond EMS Station #4, 1700 Rockmart Highway, Cedartown and Redmond EMS Station #5, 529 Hunter Street, Rockmart.

Redmond is sponsoring the event to celebrate National EMS Week, scheduled May 17-21. Free lunch will be served and door prizes will be presented. Everyone is invited to attend.

In addition, a free class to equip teens with babysitting skills has been scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. May 17 at the Polk County EMA Building, Cedartown and May 27 at the public library in Rockmart.

The American Academy of Pediatrics develops this babysitting training for ages 13-17. Students learn safety lessons, CPR, first aid, diapering, feeding, burping, the responsibility of babysitting, and learn a variety of songs and games. All students will receive a free gift along with a certificate of completion. Pre-registration is required.
