Nine arrested in NET drug bust

A total of nine people were arrested Thursday in a drug bust in Rockmart by the Polk County Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET).

All, including one that had outstanding warrants for a Hiram incident, will face drug charges, reports said. Some will also face weapons charges.

The search at 527 Pine Road netted marijuana packaged for sale, five firearms that included an illegal sawed-off shotgun, scales and other items used in drug sales and crack cocaine.

The search warrant came after several months of investigation that indicated to officers that marijuana and crack cocaine sales were originating at the home, according to NET officials.

An elderly woman and three children, also at the home, were turned over to the Department of Family and Children Services.

Arrested were:

Devona Roshell McCrary, 40, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, misdemeanor marijuana possession, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, possession of drug-related objects, and reckless conduct.

Anthony Lajuan McCrary, 21, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, felony marijuana possession, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects, and reckless conduct.

Georgia Darden, 26, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, felony marijuana possession, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of drug-related objects and reckless conduct.

Antwon Common Wilson, 48, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, possession of drug-related objects, misdemeanor marijuana possession, and possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime.

Demon Eugene Wilson, 30, of 208 Dever St., Rockmart, possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm in the commission of a crime, crack cocaine possession, misdemeanor marijuana possession, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, crack cocaine possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and reckless conduct.

William Anthony Cooper, 43, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, possession of an illegal weapon being the sawed-off shotgun.

Brandi Leigh Jay, 29, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart possession of drug-related objects, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, crack cocaine possession, crack cocaine possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and reckless conduct.

Edward Denard Wilson, 25, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, felony possession of marijuana, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Wilson has an outstanding warrant from Hiram on a shoplifting charge.

Tamar Michelle Latimore, 29, of 527 Pine Road, Rockmart, felony possession of marijuana, marijuana possession with intent to distribute, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and two counts of possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Narcotics officials said they expect more arrests during a continuing investigation. NET officials said assistance from Cedartown Police Department’s K-9 unit was valuable in the search warrant operation.
