Interesting about $140K or more per year - what would make the job of city manager worth that much? I can't see what would justify this level of pay, and would like to hear city commissioners justify this.

Any city commissioners want to give this a try? Would any C'town Standard reporter want to interview commissioners for comments on this issue? As the saying goes, inquiring minds want to know!

Is it true Mr. Stephans was paid over $140,000 a year with a total benefits package that was worth $200k plus??? I've heard this from a couple of people, but never seen an article on the subject of city manager pay. The people have a right to know how our taxpayer dollars are spent. The Freedom of Information Act requires full disclosure.

Now I don't care about all employees pay, but we need to know what the city manager and supervisor salaries. The names of supervisors are not important, just the job title and income and income plus benefits.

My guess was that Stephan's pay was $75,000 when asked. What do other citizens think he was payed? We have a right to know!! As well, we have a right to know why Stephans resigned. The backstory is important!

fyi, I also left voicemails with Stephans on two occasions, he never returned my calls, nor did a call to the City Code Inspector, so much for voicemail.

Time to Unwrap this story because the citizens want to know and The Polk Fish Wrap can bring us the truth!!

Thank god, it's about time! Maybe now they will try to fill the position with someone that will do the city some good. I never heard ONE good thing about James Stephens. Glad to see him go, as so many other's are I'm sure.

I called Mr. Stephens on three occasions over the past three years and left messages regarding questions I had. These were not messages that dealt with complaint or request for services but merely questions. Mr. Stephens did not return any of my calls. He may have done a good job or maybe he didn't do a good job as City Manager but he wouldn't even return my calls. I always appreciate someone returning my call and as a taxpayer/citizen I do not like to be ignored and for that reason, I'm glad to see him go.
