A vacant house located at 305 Stubbs St. in Cedartown was demolished today per request of the city. The property had been vacant for at least five years, according to neighbors, and Cedartown City Manager Charles Akridge expects to have the unit torn down by this evening and the property cleared within the week.

Akridge suspects that the lot will be advertised for sale in the coming weeks due to its close proximity to downtown Cedartown and the city’s need to sell the property. Akridge was actually approached by an interested developer at the time of the demolition requesting further information on the lot’s availability.

It was once a nice house. What a shame.
