Suspect in custody in Saturday night shooting in Cartersville

A man was arrested Sunday morning in connection with a late-night shooting at a Cartersville apartment complex.

According to the Car­tersville Police Department:

Michael Thomas Morris, Jr., 29, was arrested by police with the assistance of the Bartow County Sheriff’s Office at 12:30 a.m. as a suspect in a shooting at Amberwood Apartments at 1116 N. Tennessee St. in Cartersville late Saturday.

Police reported that Joshua Lee Moore, 26, was shot and killed and Danny Dewayne Westbrook, 27, was injured.

Westbrook was life-flighted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where he was listed in critical but stable condition Sunday afternoon.

The incident is still under investigation and police said more information will be forthcoming as soon as it is available.
