Singer/Songwriter Preston Camp, Jr., who grew up in Cedartown, has recently released a new album, “Goin' to Texas.”

According to a press release, the album was scheduled for Album of the Week for Jan. 4, 2009, on a radio show in the Netherlands called “Texas Radio.”

In the album’s first week of release, it was included on the worldwide DJ playlist in Sweden, New Zealand, Australia, the Netherlands, Germany, the U.S.A, and Ireland.

Camp is also planning the release of his fourth album in September 2009. The album will be called, “Texas Ain’t Texas Without Cowgirls.”

According to Camp, the pictorial layout of the upcoming album was shot on the farm of Debbie Miller Gardner on Johnson Lake Road in Cedartown.

Camp also said that he and his band, the Anywhere Texas Band, plan to film a country music video from the upcoming album on location in Cedartown.

Camp is originally from Douglasville, with his family then moving to Cedartown. Camp attended high school at Darlington, where he was a standout football player.

Camp then went on to the University of Georgia to play for the Bulldogs.

After college, he spent time playing venues throughout Georgia and Alabama, before spending a stint on Nashville’s famed Music Row. Since then, Camp has settled into a long stretch of songwriting, which has seen him accumulate over 40 songwriting awards.
