Karolyn Hutcheson, president, Polk County Chamber of Commerce/Development Authority, announced her plans to retire Thursday, effective March 31.

Hutcheson said since the recent death of her father she has realized the "true meaning" of family and plans "to spend more time with loved ones."

"I am not planning to move away from Polk County," she said. "I will be available to help with the transition of the next person to fill this post."

She assumed her job with the Polk County Chamber as administrative assistant on May 8, 1990 and became president in 1994.

Hutcheson said she has informed the Chamber board of her decision, adding that traditionally a search would follow to find her replacement.
