Polk County is among Georgia counties cited in a Hazardous Weather statement by the National Weather Service. Polk County experienced rain and hail overnight and some this morning, and precipation is part of the forecast all day. There's a moderate chance of severe weather today, according to the weather service.

The National Weather Service forecast for Rome:

Today: Occasional showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 1 p.m., then occasional showers and thunderstorms after 1 p.m. Some of the storms could be severe. High near 68. South wind between 10 and 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent.

Tonight: Occasional showers and thunderstorms before 1 am. Some of the storms could be severe. Low around 45. South wind 5 to 15 mph becoming northwest. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 64. Calm wind becoming west between 10 and 15 mph. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph.
