Six Polk County Fire Department Stations responded to a fire at the corner of Fairview Avenue and Irwin Street at 3 p.m. on Dec. 6. According to Randy Winkles, chief of Youngs Station Fire Department, Station 7, faulty electrical wiring is suspected as the cause of the fire, which was contained to one room by firefighters. However, the whole home suffered smoke and water damage. No one was injured in the fire. “They [the family] were home but everybody got out okay,” Winkles said.
