A Houston, Texas, woman was booked Friday on charges related to a wreck that killed a Polk County driver. She has since been released on $1100 bond.

Police had taken out warrants for Annette Sampson Foster, 40, charging her with vehicular homicide and failure to stop at a red light, Rockmart Assistant Police Chief John Adams confirmed.

A story in local papers last Thursday stated that police were seeking Foster. On Friday, Feb. 24 she turned herself in and was processed at the county jail, Adams said. She has since been released on bond.

At around 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 21, the 2006 Kia Sedona that Foster was driving struck a 2005 Mercury Sable. The Mercury’s driver, Joyce Chambers, 74, of Rockmart, was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta, where she was pronounced dead close to 9 p.m., said Polk Deputy Coroner Tony Brazier.

Chambers died of critical head and chest injuries sustained in the accident, the coroner determined.

Police said Foster caused the collision by running a red light.

Foster was going east on U.S. 278 as Chambers was going north on Ga. 113. The light turned red, witnesses told police, and Foster continued through the intersection.

“She was on her way to the airport and was running late,” Adams said.

Foster also was taken to Floyd Medical Center, but was released before police could speak with her, Adams said.

Aggravated Assault

A Rockmart woman was arrested for pulling a gun on another female on Feb. 27.

From Polk County Jail records and county police reports:

Terry Renee Little, 40, of 155 Prospect Road, Rockmart, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault, possession of drugs within guard line and possession of less than one ounce of marijuana.

Police responded to 2565 Cartersville Hwy., Lot 5, where Kimberly Dawn Bachman of Cedar Bluff, Ala., stated that Little had pulled out a black gun and held it to her face.

Officers made contact with Little a short time later. She allegedly admitted to pulling the gun and pointing it at Bachman. She further explained that Bachman had threatened her earlier.

Little was then arrested and transported to the Polk County Jail. While at the jail, Little was found to have a glass smoking device coated with white residue in her purse. Two small marijuana cigarettes were also found, the report states. However, Little denied that the drugs belonged to her.

Methamphetamine

Five suspects were arrested for meth and weapons possession after a routine traffic stop on Feb. 27.

From Polk County Jail records and county police reports:

Arrested were: Brian Keith Sanford, 44, of Piedmont, Ala.; Brian Lee Blair, 37, of Ohatchee, Ala.; Rosielene McDonald, 55, of Piedmont; and Stacey Diane King, 35, of Piedmont.

All were charged with possession of meth, possession of meth with intent to distribute, possession of less than one ounce of marijuana and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

King was additionally charged with speeding in a construction zone.

A Toyota 4-Runner driven by King was stopped for speeding in a construction zone while travelling westbound on Highway 278.

Because of suspicious activity inside the vehicle, police requested and were granted permission from King to search the vehicle.

Sanford, who was in the back seat of the vehicle, was reportedly found sitting on a knife. He was also found to have approximately 10 additional knives concealed all over his person.

A .22-caliber handgun was also found concealed in the rear passenger seat pocket.

A baby diaper that contained suspected meth and marijuana was also found in the floorboard of the vehicle.

All suspects including Blair and McDonald, who were also passengers in the vehicle, were arrested and transported to the Polk County Sheriff’s Office for booking and the Polk County Jail for confinement.
