The festival will be in operation from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on May 5 and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, May 6, at Peek Park.
The festival this year will offer local citizens a chance to look at and buy unique arts and crafts.
According to Marilyn Benefield, festival chairman, the event will offer ironworks, woodturnings, wood carvings and small furniture. Other things such as porcelain items, wreaths, special pottery pieces and furnishings for the home will also be present.
Roland Chandler, a local artist will have unusual glassware on display as well.
A list of special entertainers have been scheduled for the two day event. On Saturday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. Nancy Woods will perform. At 11 a.m. Northside Elementary Chorus will sing, followed by the Cherokee Pace Group at 11:30 a.m.
At noon, Purks Middle School Chorus will perform and at 12:30 p.m. the Junior Service League will recognize awards.
Haley Smith and Cornerstone are scheduled to perform at 1 p.m.., followed by Westside Elementary Chorus at 2 p.m., an Ice Cream Contest at 2:15 p.m., singer Martin West at 2:45 p.m., and a Cedar Hill Middle School choir at 3:30 p.m..
The day will close with Cosmic Opera at 4:15 p.m., Jumping Jackets at 5:15 p.m. and Deanna Hulsey at 6 p.m.
Scheduled for Sunday’s entertainment are Nancy Woods at 11:30 a.m., Stars in Our Eyes at 12:30 p.m., Forgiven at 1 p.m. and Marlys and Tiny Van Kleef at 1:30 p.m.
At 2 p.m. the First Baptist Church- Resurrection will perform and at 2:30 p.m. the First Baptist Church Children’s Choirs will entertain the crowd.
Southern Style Sweetheart Cloggers will finish up the day at 3 p.m. along with High Point Quartet at 4 p.m.
Funnel cakes, cotton candy, blooming onions, Mongolian beef barbecue, roasted corn, hotdogs, chicken and concession stand drinks are just a few kinds of food the festival will be serving.
Adults can leisurely peruse the art displays while children can participate in pony rides and wall climbing.
Benefield also states that a giant slide and a large exhibition of local children’s art will be will also be on grounds
T-shirts commemorating the event, designed by Clarissa Adams, a second grader at Westside, will be available for purchase. Long sleeve T-shirts are $12 and short sleeve and children’s sizes are $10. Drinking mugs with the Cedar Vallet Arts and Craft Festival logo can also be purchased.
Benefield encouarges everyone to attend and states that “the main objective of the arts and crafts festival is to expose Polk County children to art and just to give back to the community.”
