A Cedartown couple was arrested Monday, March 3, after a heated domestic dispute in front of their infant child.

From reports:

Officer Joe Weldon was dispatched to 1838 Antioch Rd., where a woman feared that her son had committed suicide. She told the officer that she saw her son run into the neighboring woods with a .357 Magnum. A few moments later, she claims to have heard a gun shot. Fearing the worst, she called the police.

After a brief search, Weldon located the subject, 22-year-old Gregory Alan King, Jr., who was unharmed. While speaking with King, the officer noticed scratches and bite marks on the subject’s face and neck. King told police that the marks were the result of an earlier incident with his girlfriend, Christy Michelle Corn, 26, 1310 Cobb Mtn. Road. He said that the two were engaged in an argument when Corn allegedly attacked him.

Upon speaking with Corn, Weldon found that she also had signs of the earlier confrontation; she had red marks on her wrists and a bruise on her forehead. Corn informed Weldon that, allegedly, King held her to the ground by her wrists, then struck her across the head. She claims she scratched and bit King to ward him off.

It was noted that all of this took place in the presence of the couple’s three-month-old daughter.

Both King and Corn were arrested on charges of battery, criminal trespass and cruelty to children in the second degree.
