Jehovah's Witnesses will gather in Cedartown next week to help construct a new kingdom hall on Davis Road.

Church member Tammy McDonald said some 600 volunteers "from all over" are expected for the raising of the church. Some are staying with local citizens, while others have booked rooms at local hotels.

The church property is about a mile from the Cedartown bypass and Home Depot. The concrete parking lot has already been poured, as has the church foundation.

One corner of the structure has been erected, allowing for electricity to be run to the building. Bricks and other building materials have been gathered on the grounds; construction tools have been put in place; and a security staff is keeping watch on the site,in preparation for the three-day building blitz.

Work is expected to begin early on the morning of Thursday, June 4. The building is expected to be completed, or nearly so, by the afternoon of Saturday, June 6.

Thanks for the kind comment and thanks for reminding me of one of America,s greatest entertainers and comedian Red Shelton with his skits that made the crowd roar like, Gertrude and Heathcliffe the two sea gulls , Clem Kadiddle Hopper and Freddie the Free Loader the Bum.

Sure miss the Old Boy.

That,s what we need today another good old boy like Red to come on the scene for some good clean fun and a barrel of laughs!

He,d put these four letter word comics out of business and that would be something to laugh about.

The Romans didn't like Jesus followers preaching door to door either, perhaps that's what your name is about? How does anyone start a conversation without a conversation starter? At least you admit Jesus set forth a work for his followers, the question would be, how popular would his followers be today if they were doing the same work as then? The Romans even called the Christians a Sect of the Nazarene, sound familiar. Your name fits well.

Jehovah's Witnesses come to our homes with a pretense that is fraudulent from the get-go.

You pitch that you are doing Jesus work (lie) you use all sorts of conversation starters to try to put us at ease, con and scam us into joining your sect, that is no better than any other.

No better.

OvertheHill, please take a look at the May 19, 2009 post at www.rightfromtheheart.org

Leaving organized religion is one thing but leaving yourslf alone is another. Don't mean to sound "preachy" but you have some good thoughts, ideas and points on a lot of topics and I'd like to see you reconsider something other than the Golden Rule. As Red Skelton used to say, "May God Bless".

Wow! What was the article about again? Oh that's right... a construction site! Someone went on and on about how JW's NEVER are allowed to hear about other faiths or scriptural thoughts that might contradict thier own ie, "you can not freely thing (sic) for yourself ever again.." Really? Then they sure chose a really stupid way of protecting themselves by GOING DOOR TO DOOR AND STANDING ON STREET CORNERS AND TALKING TO EVERYONE THAT WILL LISTEN TO THEM WITH A BIBLE IN THEIR HANDS!Yeah, must be that "insularity" thing they do! Just out of curiosity did anybody say what THEIR religious beliefs are yet - still waiting for that one to show up. Not expecting it to happen mind you, just waiting's all. Maybe they're being "insular". And I guess "pedophiles paradise" is used about JW's but usually only by ex JW's with an agenda,(note the "www.exjws.net website) again please google "Silent Lambs Exposed" for both sides of this issue - I think that would be pertinent to those looking for an honest consideration of the issue.

HOLY COW !!

After reading the comments about the Jehovah Witnesses new church and their religion. Assuming some of them will read them too.

The question they must be asking themselves

IS IT TO LATE TO GET THE BUILDING PERMIT BACK???

I,m also relieved to learn there are apparently NO Pedophiles in other religions like say the Catholic Church. (RIGHT)

I,m betting they,re in all religion where children attend UNFORTUNATELY.

Glad I left organized religion years ago I,ll stick to the golden rule for my guiding light.

STONE me for my humble opinion if you must !

The Jehovah's Witness religion is known as the "pedophiles paradise" FOR A REASON.

The Jehovah's Witnesses religion requires TWO WITNESSES to a crime before they will consider it to have happened. How often are there two witnesses of an act of pedophilia? Not only this, but Jehovah's Witnesses generally speaking trust other members COMPLETELY despite knowing nothing about one anothers past - it is enough that you are "one of Jehovah's Witnesses".

Finally, the leaders of this religion care about only one thing in instances of child molestation, and that is maintaining the white-washed appearance of the religion. For this reason, every settlement with victims of child abuse have required the victim to sign a gag order as documented by NBC news.

Jehovah's Witness parents, please protect your children.

Where was that link to the info about all these quickly flipped kingdom halls for profit?...hmmm, liked the joke about perfume though. Im not asking you to debate on the Bible, just to back up your statement...if you can. As for getting a knock on your door, Simply tell them to put your house on as a No Call by calling the Kingdom Hall in your area, or perhaps not, Maybe we are the sugar in your coffee sunshine. For Shizzle JWSizzle... love's your slang too.Dig!

Churches

Free labor, member donations pay expenses, tax free.

For a sect that has been saying for well over a century, and especially in the last 30 or so years, that the world has a very limited, short - term future, this vigorous building by the Jehovah's Witnesses seems long term to me.

Maybe they've cancelled Armageddon again?

I personally think it is Awesome they are Building a New Hall!

While the Watchtower warns all who read that the END is Near, Again and Again and it Tells all to Not Get Higher Education, Most Witness are reduced to Washing Windows and taking Low Hour Jobs and then apply to the State for Benefits to make up for their Lack of Income.

They put their LIVES on HOLD and don't build for the Future themselves. Yet the Society keeps Building and saying the END is NEAR in Every Magazine.

I think of all the times they have said that and yet the sad thing of all is they are telling EVERYONE to EXAMINE YOUR RELIGION but they can only examine theirs with Approved BOOK'S that the Society produces.

Anyone that finds out something about the PAST Lies the Society has said is Railroaded out of the congregation for Independent Thinking.

I think the Worst I ever say was in 1985 how they changed the 2 Baptism Questions. Rutherford said WE ARE NOT BAPTIZED INTO AN ORGANIZATION, Yet in 1985 that Changed. YOU "HAVE TO ACCEPT the Organization, it's Doctrine and other Belief's that are Peculiar to Jehovah's Witnesses."

The old, "THIS MEANS EVERLASTING LIFE, THEIR TAKING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE ONE GOD SENT FORTH, i.e. CHRIST JESUS." TODAY you have to see where the Society call's it's-Self the MOTHER. Equating it's Self with GOD and Yet CHRIST is REMOVED from the Picture. Now we have Michael the Arc Angel who is supposed to be Jesus in Heaven?

No wonder Jesus never came in 1874, 1914, 1915, 1918 and also I remember 1975 as the Biggest Joke ever. Deut 18:20-22 Sum's that UP. FALSE PROPHET.

IF you changed your Religion and Became a Jehovah's Witness YOU ALREADY ""ARE AN APOSTATE!"" Yet Like I already said, Your free to Examine your Religion IF your not a Jehovah's Witness. But JOIN and you can not freely thing for yourself ever again. EVER!!! Instead of all Teachings that Lead one to the Christ, You have to READ the Watchtower, NOT THE BIBLE. The Bible is NOTHING to the Rank-in-File Witness. The Society say's that no matter HOW MUCH ANYONE READS the Bible it is of NO VALUE since ONLY the Society can tell you what the Bible say's.

So forget Following Jesus.

When Jesus was Baptized God spoke and said, This is My Son, LISTEN TO HIM. No where in the Bible, I repeat, NO WHERE do the Scriptures Direct us to Follow a Man Made Organization, We are to Follow the CHRIST, and Jesus said he would Send a Helper. (Holy Spirit) Everlasting Life is a FREE GIFT from God. FREE. He that does not Confess Union with the Son does not have the Father either. I personally was Shocked when I read about the Medical use of BOVINE BLOOD for Witnesses. But Don't look that up. As that would be INDEPENDENT THINKING ON YOUR PART. And you would be disfellowshipped. Are you allowed to study the Bible and check Paul's Teachings like the Borean's did? The 2007 KM says the Society DOES NOT ENDORSE anyone who wants to read the Bible and check to make sure what is being Taught is from the Bible.

Lastly, Have you ever noticed in all their Publications that They Ask a Question and then they, Yes THEY Supply the Answer right after the Question. You are not allowed to PONDER over the THINGS LEARNED. Either you accept THAT ANSWER or you are OUT!!!!

All the Freedom of Speech Cases WON by the Witnesses and yet, If you try to use your freedom to say what YOUR BELIEF'S are.. BE CAREFUL... Independent Thinking again. All your FAITH is DICTATED to you from each page of the Watchtower. Not the Bible. ( I know, But WHERE did you Learn the TRUTH?" FROM US, FROM US ONLY. Yet Jesus said, "I am the TRUTH and the Light.. NO ONE COMES to the FATHER Except by ME....

Read it and WEEP. Jesus Saves, Not a Worldly Organization filled with Court case's of Sexual Abuse and GAG ORDERS so the poor Children can't even talk to a Shrink after a Elder has Abused them.

Is it worse to Defame the Name of Jehovah or to bring the Organization into bad light, or the SLANG, YOU DON'T want to Bring REPROACH on Jehovah's Name do you?

Why is it that Witnesses CAN't Take a Brother to Court but can sue the HELL out of anyone else? More bad Light????

Peace be in Christ, My LORD and MY SAVIOR.

I am not JW and get quite annoyed with their unannounced visits at my home. However, I think any kind of construction during this economy is positive for our county. The hotels who are putting part of the workers up generate revenue, as well as other local contractors being used (and not mentioned in this article) benefit. While I ideologically disagree with the JW religion, as a member of this community and citizen, I am able to put my own beliefs aside to see the bigger picture. And for me, that's not always an easy thing to do! ;)

Did somebody bring up 'obsession' {not the perfume?}

Cold calling uninvited 4 times a year at my house with Watchtower propaganda after you have been REJECTED the first time.

What is that but virtual stalking?

If you don't want to read negative info on your group then simply do not log on to the URL.

Dig it?

There is clearly a lot of vitriol spinning around the Jehovah's Witnesses, which is of course exactly what they expect--it's been prophesied.

Convenient that a systematized culture of insularity, sexual dscrimination, legal manipulation, child abuse and isolation, and brainwashing tends to bring that up in people.

Presto!--self-fulfilling prophecy, made to order.

That was a nice article. Normally on subjects like this I enjoy the article, then get annoyed at the posts. Not today!

Thanks to Tom Jenkins (and Dannyhasturds, sorry I mean Tom Cruise the leader, for mentioning it so I read beyond the first post) for silent lambs exposed. That was a real treat to read.

JWsurvivor-

Ok you got me, I'm really Tom Cruise(Secret Scientology Leader!)

Let me Address a few things you said.

-When they leave it's often by church disfellowshipping for rejecting watchtower teachings.

*They are only disfellowshipped if they are not repentant for the gross sin they have committed, and they reject the BIBLE'S TEACHINGS...you know like homosexuality, stealing, fornication before marriage, etc.

-I was shocked to learn about this flipping.many of these halls are later on sold for profit

*Whats so shocking, many not for profit and religious organizations need to buy or sell properties from time to time, SHOW AN EXAMPLE where a kingdom hall was built only to sell it shortly thereafter...should be easy for you to find like this article. More than likely it was an older hall that could not handle the expanding congregations needs. You think we are building kingdom halls for no reason?

I am curious if Danny Haszards Grand parents and parents left the organization, or are backing him on his crusade. He frequently uses them as reference.

Want the definition of Obsession? Google Danny Haszard and find 2,810,000 results, almost all generated by the Grand Poobah himself...

Thanks to TomJenkins - The Silent Lambs Exposed site is very clear and provides many links to the articles that were frequently misquoted by apostate muckrakers...

Wow. An article about a building project and JW haters start pouring out of the woodwork. Danny Hasturdz you were right, any normal person would have understood the reference to ol Adolph - Can trolls also be people who google JW's and attack em every chance they get? I think so! I noticed that not one of those posters mentioned what THEIR religious beliefs are - easier to shoot from the shadows eh guys? Let's open up YOU"RE beliefs to scrutiny, I'm sure that there's a website out there I can use to dig up some dirt, true or not really doesn't matter does it? BTW you might wanna google "Silent Lambs Exposed" for the other side of the story.
