A 19-year old Cedartown resident died Wednesday after being shot in Rome, police and Deputy Coroner Ernie Studard said.

Studard identified the victim as Jeffrey Pledger, 605 Broad St., Cedartown.

Rome police reported to 506 E. 19th St. around 5:15 p.m. after the incident was reported. They are now looking for two male suspects who may be driving a silver Crown Victoria.

According to Capt. Terry Autry with the Rome Police Department, the victim was taken to Floyd Medical Center.

Studard said Pledger was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m.

Police are still at the scene investigating, and they have not identified the suspects at this point, according to Autry. Witnesses at the scene said they heard several gunshots and saw a man fleeing the scene.

Rome police dogs were called to the scene.
