Polk County Superior Court ended quickly this week with the majority of cases taking a plea deal, according to court officials.

Jury selection was set to continue on Tuesday, but the remaining cases had pleas so court finished early. One of those scheduled for trial was Austin Eugene Strobel, accused of driving under the influence and other charges, officials said.

The court also got a plea in an aggravated child molestation case, officials said.

Meanwhile, the district attorney’s office was closed Thursday and will remain closed today out of a mandated two-day furlough. The furlough is an attempt to reduce costs so everyone may keep their jobs.
