Ten people face drug charges after Polk County police raided three residences on Rockmart’s west side.

Search warrants were issued for 520 Williamson Street, 302 Second St., and 612 Golden St., Apt. 4, after police received information that illegal narcotics were being distributed at the homes.

The Polk County Police Department’s Narcotics Enforcement Team (NET) raided the houses between Feb. 8 and Feb. 14, according to Capt. Michael McGee.

PCPD Chief Kenny Dodd said the arrests are a direct result of citizens providing pertinent information to the police.

“The last two neighborhood watch sessions we had have been really great. We’ve had citizens in the area telling us what we needed to know, what we needed to see,” Dodd said.

“It was a positive result for law enforcement for them to put faith in us.”

He said residents showed up in mass at each of the raids, clapping as police escorted suspects to cars. Many personally thanked officers, Dodd said.

Dodd said there is still more work to do to sweep crime out of the community.

“We’re still not done. Taking them off the street put a huge dent in drug activity in that area,” he said.
