Stoplights were destroyed after a driver crashed into a light pole early Saturday morning Nov. 17, according to Cedartown Assistant Police Chief Jamie Newsome.
The new lights are up, but the city has to go through a procedure to property set them, he said.
Gregory Lee Causey, 32, of Cedartown, was cited today in the incident, Newsome said.
Causey is cited with driving on a suspended license, leaving the scene of an accident, striking a fixed object and failure to maintain lane, according to officials.
Newsome said Causey will not be incarcerated, but will be given a court date.
Newsome said officers found two stoplights laying in the middle of the road at the intersection around 2:17 a.m. Saturday. The power pole was broken in two and the impact damaged the traffic light system.
Additionally, Newsome said shrubbery at Gammage Funeral Home had been damaged.
A car was abandoned nearby on East Avenue, he said. Patrol worked the initial incident while investigators spent Monday tracking down the vehicle’s driver.
Causey has not explained what happened, Newsome said. There isn’t a cost estimate on the damage.
Traffic going east on Wisshickon Avenue is being rerouted onto Bradford Street, Newsome said.
