Polk County grand jury issues indictments

The Polk County Grand Jury issued 90 true bills and three no bills during its most recent session in July.

Some of the indicted cases, which alleged the more serious crimes, are listed below according to court documents.

Charles Edward McBurnett was indicted on aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation and sexual battery against a child under 16 charges from an incident allegedly occurring March 2010 involving a boy under 10 years old.

Pedro Van Baten was indicted on statutory rape and child molestation charges for an incident allegedly occurring April 2010 involving a girl under 14 years old.

Jeffrey Kent Couzzort, Donald Ray Taylor Jr., Michelle Leigh Murrieta were indicted on robbery and battery charges in an incident allegedly occurring April 2012.

Couzzort also was indicted on four aggravated assault charges and a criminal damage to property in the second degree charge in a separate August, 2010 incident where he allegedly hit several people with a baseball bat.

Greg Scott Elliott was indicted on two counts of aggravated battery and aggravated assault for an incident allegedly occurring June 2010 where one woman was reportedly disfigured in a beating and another was allegedly hit with a piece of iron.

Raynard Steven Jones was indicted on child molestation, sexual battery against a child under 16 in an incident allegedly occurring May 2010 involving a girl under 16 years old.

Anthony Dwyatt Holden was indicted on aggravated sodomy, aggravated child molestation, two counts of child molestation and two charges of electronically furnishing obscene material to minors charges from an incident allegedly occurring in August 2008 involving a girl under 10 years old.

Jeffrey Edward Hodges, Jeremiah Duane Hodges, Dorian Anthony McClure, Felix Ferdinand McClure, Jermaine Tolbert Williams, Vincent Morris Sr. and Anthony Joel Reed were indicted on charges of two counts to of conspiracy to commit theft by taking, nine counts of criminal solicitations and theft by taking charges from an incident allegedly occurring August 2008 where fraudulent checks drawn on J.P. Haynes Lumber Co., were deposited and then withdrawing money from Family Services Federal Credit Union in Rockmart.

James Davenport Ferrell was indicted on charges of kidnapping with bodily injury, rape, aggravated child molestation, first-degree child cruelty and enticing a child for indecent purposes for an incident allegedly occurring October 2010 involving a girl under 10 years old.

Angelo Romontraz Mathis was indicted on rape and aggravated sodomy charges for an incident allegedly occurring Sept 2011.

Dillon Cody Hamme was indicted on rape, child molestation and first-degree cruelty to children for an incident allegedly occurring April 2011 involving a girl under 10 years old.

Thomas Anthony Vanzant was indicted on charges of two counts child molestation and two counts sexual battery for an incident occurring October 2010 involving a girl under 16 years old.

Thomas Ray Bishop, James William Hulsey, Bradley Keith Myers, Larry Jeffrey Pitts, Gregary Everette Presley, Kristopher Corey Jackson were indicted regarding an incident occurring June 2009 where a Drummond Road building was broken into and toolboxes, equipment and a utility trailer were stolen.

Jackson and Hulsey were indicted on burglary charges. Bishop, Myers, Pitts and Presley were indicted on theft by receiving stolen property charges.

Jane Marie Collins was indicted on an arson charge in an incident allegedly occurring July 2008 where a house on East Jule Peek Avenue caught fire.

Wesley Lyle Freeman was indicted on statutory rape and child molestation charges for an incident allegedly occurring December 2010 involving a girl under 14 years old.

Laquinton Delmar Hudson was indicted on child molestation and sexual battery against a child under 16 for an incident allegedly occurring October 2010 involving a girl under 16.

Venancio DeLeon Mendez was indicted on serious injury by vehicle, DUI, driving without a license, and disregard of a traffic control device charges for an incident allegedly occurring June 2010 where Mendez’s 1998 GMC Safari hit a vehicle on Philpot Street.

Charles Randall Dingler was indicted on two counts of aggravated assault and two charges of battery after an incident allegedly occurring July 2010 where two men reportedly beaten with a baseball bat.

Christopher Brian Watford, Robert Wayne Lilly were indicted on unlawful handling of explosive devices, possession of explosive devices and possession of schedule IV controlled substances, methamphetamine possession and possession of a pipe bomb after an incident allegedly occurring April 2010.

William Edward Johnson was indicted on two counts of aggravated child molestation and two counts of aggravated sodomy charges for an incident allegedly occurring August 2010 involving a boy under 16 years old.

Ricky Leonard Baily was indicted on 14 charges including five counts of burglary, seven counts of theft by taking, criminal trespass, and entering auto for an incident allegedly occurring July 2010 in which four houses and a car in the areas of Chestnut, Walnut Streets and West Girard Avenue were burglarized. Items stolen included tools, lawn equipment and power equipment, according to documents.

Andrew Damon Glover was indicted on an aggravated assault and aggravated battery charge for an incident allegedly occurring February 2010 where a man was reportedly severely disfigured after a beating.

Kirk Allen Goff, Jason Lance Glenn, Cory Levi Puckett, Brittany Michelle Puckett, Daniel Lee Gladden, Kimberly Mae McDaniel, Jeannie Marie Hopkins and Cicely Grace Summerville were indicted on two counts of conspiracy to drug possession, possession of drug-related objects, marijuana possession less than an ounce and theft by shoplifting for an incident allegedly occurring February 2010 where police found a number of objects on them after someone reportedly attempted to steal Vaseline from Walmart.

Steven Wayne Crumley, Sylvia Elizabeth Adkins, Barry William Crumley and Tracey Jane Crumley were indicted on trafficking, manufacturing and possessing methamphetamine, possession of tools for the commission of a crime, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon charges in an incident allegedly occurring in January 2010 where police reportedly found 200 grams of methamphetamine, a pipe and a rifle.

Of the no bills, there wasn’t enough evidence to go to trial on the case of Emilee Faith Duke who was accused of two counts of child molestation and three counts of sexual battery involving a boy under 16 years old. Those charges are now dismissed and she is exonerated.
