The Cedartown Community Blood Drive was held from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church.

The drive was held in the Family Life Center of the church, located at 144 Essex St., Cedartown.

Organizers were happy with the turnout. Nikki Huddleston, chairperson of the Red Cross Committee of the Cedartown Junior Service League, said about 35 good pints of blood were collected.

The next blood drive will be 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. April 6, also at the church.

Huddleston said the next drive will be in memory of Chris Barnett, who died at age 46 of lung cancer.

"Blood is needed by everyday people, all kinds of patients," Huddleston said.
