According to Kent Mathis, they use the Presidents Challenge Physical Fitness Test as a means of measurement. The students are trying to achieve either the National Physical Fitness Award, or the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.
According to Mathis, they are tested in five area’s. They do sit-ups (to measure abdominal strength), shuttle run (to measure speed and agility), one mile run/walk (to measure heart and lung endurance), push-ups (to measure upper body strength), and sit and reach (to measure flexibility).
Eastside had 47 students achieve the National Physical Fitness Award this year, and seven students achieved the top honors of the Presidential Physical Fitness Award.

Chloe Haney, Jesse Taff, Krista Fuller, Aaron Daniel, Luke Queen, Lauren Carter, Katie Opdycke, Kohl Streetman, Holly Decker, Jennifer Crawford, Russell Head, Dylan Bailey, Ansley Turner, Isaac Moore, Chandler Cooper, Cameron Ingle, Mallorie Dover, and Riley Coats.
