Taylorsville mayor pleads guilty to ‘traveler’ charge

The mayor of a northwest Georgia town who was arrested for allegedly traveling to Chatsworth to attempt to have sex with a minor child pleaded guilty to an electronic child exploitation charge in Murray County, a court officer said.

Cary Wayne Rhodes, 57, of 46 Euharlee St. in Taylorsville — southwest of Cartersville in Bartow County — was charged in late October by the Murray County Sheriff’s Office in conjunction with the FBI with attempted aggravated child molestation and violation of the Computer Pornography and Child Exploitation Act.
