The following is a list of events going on in and around Polk County today, April 9:

1. The Cedartown Senior Citizen Nutrition Center located next to Burt Wood Park has activites Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Seniors 55 and older may participate in activites. Seniors 60 and older may participate in activities as well as nutritional meals and trips.

2. The Rockmart Civic Arts Commission offers drawing lessons every Monday and Thursday from 5:30-7 p.m. The Cost is $12 per session plus a onetime $10 supply fee. Contact Instructor Kathy Torress for more information at 706-266-7554.

3. The Polk School Board budgetary committee will meet at 6 p.m. in the Central Office

4. The Compassionate Friends of Polk County meets the second Monday of each month at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at Second Baptist Church, 152 Evergreen Lane, in Cedartown (across from Cherokee Elementary School). The support group is for families to help with the grief and healing process after the loss of a child. It commemorates and honors children, siblings and grandchildren of all ages who have died from any cause. The organization is non-sectarian.
