Previously reported:A Cedartown woman in her 50s was found dead of an apparent heart attack in her automobile early Thursday morning.
According to Cedartown police reports, an officer received information about a vehicle running with a person possibly asleep at the wheel on Grace Street, just off of Main Street in Downtown Cedartown.
Police arrived on the scene at 5:55 a.m., reports said. The officer observed a woman in the driver’s seat of a black Saturn Vue.
Reports said the woman was slumped over to the right with white foam coming from her mouth.
The officer knocked on the window several times before attempting to open the door. Reports said the officer checked the woman’s pulse and found none. Reports said the vehicle’s transmission was set in park and the vehicle was running with the air conditioning on high.
Polk County Assistant Coroner Tony Brazier arrived on the scene and determined the preliminary cause of death as congestive heart failure, reports said. Brazier later declared it a natural death by a heart attack.
“We saw no signs of foul play and did not suspect foul play, but we try to work any incident like all other investigations,” Brazier said. “We try to be as thorough as possible.”
The body was sent to the crime lab to confirm the cause of death.
Police were not releasing the victim’s name late Thursday, pending notification of next of kin.
