ATLANTA -- The Atlanta school board will vote on whether to accept a report by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools that put the system on probation.

The board is scheduled to vote Monday on whether go along with the report and to begin work on six actions required by SACS to improve the board's performance.

SACS accredits Atlanta's high schools. It placed the system on probation last week for reasons related to the board's governance, and set a Sept. 30 deadline for the board to make significant progress. Atlanta must also submit two progress reports to SACS, the first by May 1.

Mark Elgart, president and CEO of AdvancED, which oversees SACS, is expected to attend Monday's meeting.
