According to the Georgia Secretary of State's website, with 84 percent of Polk County's precincts reporting in station elections, Deal had 3,326 votes, to 1,302 for Barnes.
Libertarian John Monds had 196 votes.
Republicans were carrying the day in contested U.S. Senate and Georgia Senate races as well.
Republican Johnny Isakson was polling at 3,637 votes to Democrat Michael Thurmond's 1,050 votes. Isakson is the incumbent.
In the race for Georgia Senate, Dist. 31, Polk County voters favored Republican Bill Heath, the incumbent, with 3,322 votes (70.2 percent) to Democrat Tracy Gene Bennet's 1,413 (29.8 percent).
Polk County voters also are deciding two contested county commission seats and a contested school board race. Results from those races were not immediately available.
