Sproull resigned during the Feb. 7 board meeting citing personal reasons. Forsyth, who is himself a former school board member, will represent District 6 until the elections in November.
The law requires vacant seats to be filled as quickly as possible to insure all districts are represented on the board.
School board Chairman Chuck Thaxton said there were initially two people interested in the position. However, upon closer inspection, the other candidate was not qualified to represent the district because his house was past the district line.
Forsyth was voted in 5-1 with Grady McCrickard, Tommy Sanders, Susan Berry, Tim Turner and Andy Fairel voting for. Tara O'Neal voted against.
