Police were dispatched to the Community Share store located at 910 Main Street in Cedartown to a reported robbery Oct. 18, where they found a man cutting his wrists in front of the store.

The officers arrived at the store to find several men running towards their vehicles. The men reportedly told police that a man was cutting his wrists in front of the store, according to reports.

The officers called for emergency medical services and approached the man holding a razor. Police report that the man threw the razor down and said that he wanted to die.

Reports state that the complainants told police that the man had previously been in their program. The complainant also told police the suspect was suspected of selling items from the store and keeping the money and also of stealing items from the store at night.

The complainant told police the suspect began cutting himself when he confronted him.

The officers reported they discovered he had an active warrant for his arrest. The suspect was transported to Floyd Medical Center for treatment for his cut wrists.

Theft

Cedartown police are investigating the theft of multiple storm drain covers in several areas of the city, according to multiple police reports.

According to reports police were informed through a 911 call Oct. 30 that a storm strain cover in the area of Cleo Street and Jefferson Street had been stolen.

Police were given a description of the suspects and their vehicle. The vehicles occupants consented to a search when police located the vehicle parked on Park Street, but no storm drain was found in the vehicle.

Police notified the Cedartown street department of the missing storm drain covers.

The following day another officer was called in reference to stolen storm drain covers in the area of Estes Street and Martiele Street.

The complainant told police that he was walking when he almost fell into the storm drain on Cleo street.

The officer reported that the storm drain covers at the intersections of Fourth Street and Ladue Street were missing as well as the covers located at the intersection of Slusser Avenue and Second Street.

According to reports, the street department was notified of all of the missing storm drain covers.

theft

According to police reports, a man reported a theft of steaks and candy from his residence Oct. 25.

Police were told by the man that two T-bone steaks and two bags of candy were missing from his residence. The man told police that the value of the steaks was $60 and the bags of candy were valued at $50.

He also told police that the children across the street from his home had seen the candy earlier in the day.
