State officials have called off an endangered child alert that was issued Wednesday evening for a Polk County girl.

Officials confirmed around 9 p.m. Wednesday that the young girl, 14, had been found safe in Resaca. Larry Ryan Smith, 29, who she was believed to be traveling with was taken into custody.

No further details of the investigation were released.

According to an earlier report:

On Tuesday, Oct. 6, 2009 at approximately 10:45 PM, the girl's grandmother heard a vehicle pull away from the house and looked outside and saw taillights leaving the residence.

A close friend told officials that the female told her on the school bus that she was going to run away with a man named Larry Ryan Smith from Atlanta.

The teenager's name has been removed from this article due to recent charges that have been filed against Smith.
